Onya Eagles for a miraculous comeback in the 2nd half v raiders.. they should be proud that this year we have not slipped out of the top 2. This is my "FAN" match report from the Telly.

I was shatted in the 1st half and exited in the 2nd half.

That should be all I would have to say but I will try to add a bit of context to the thread.

In the 1st half I thought Manly where unlucky not to score Twice early and then the teams frustrations of not scoring let Canberra in to score Twice. Then Manly snapped out of it just before Half-time with that try to "Snake".

Dessie must have gave them an incouraging speach at Half-time and apart from that "one in a lifetime dropped ball from the Ox" Manly was by far the better team in the 2nd Half.

Robbo scoring 3 Try's and will do him good, Bell's try will lift his confidence as well as Monna's and Ballins try's was a good reward for great efforts. The Forwards had a far better second half with Kite lifting and setting a good example. (This was the factor to Manly's 1st 6 winning games).

While the defence missed 20 tackles it seems that both teams had hit the accelerators and where passing the ball around and for a change a lot of players where running onto the ball creating the missed tackles. For me I was more exited about the free flowing game and not worried about the missed tackles. That was my type of entertaining football and I was sorry not to make the trip and see it live at the ground.

I'm also glad that the N.R.L. got rid of that stupid "Shepard" over kill and did not see one try questioned in regards to the new "Interferance ruls" and there where plenty of try's to look at !

Last but not least the only thing that has spoilt my day was to go onto the M.S.E. Forum and read all those negative post about dropping this player or that player as if the posters know better than the Manly Warringah "Selection Committee".

yeahhh baby....... YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Thanx for the match report greg, was an interesting second half. julz and I were screaming at our tv set, Julz has foxtel, so were able to see it live. they keep playing like this and we will definitely be in the finals and even seeing our 1st Grand final for 10 years.( last one being when knights kicked our butts in '97)
I have also seen how, on the MSE forum how they bag one player out, that really gets up my nose, as they are a team!!! If they win they win as a team, if they lose , they lose as a team. why cant these guys on the mse forum get over it, and support the entire team not pick faults with one particular player, in one instance it was poor Monas who copped a bagging even though we won that day.They should be grateful for a win!!!!!

It was a good win but Manly need to get back to doing what they where in the start of the season .
Like starting the game good and finishing the same way.
Not like the last 2 round startings badly and finishing good.

I think the selectors will stick with the plan to have the team out on the park that they have planned around.

We have missed Burns' defence far more than I would have thought. Our defence in the middle of the ruck in the first half was less than impressive and we also leaked tries in that area against the Cowboys.

Coincidene that this where Burns defends and he has been missing the past 2 weeks?

Orford is struggling and he still appears to be playing at less than 100% fitness.

Orford doesn't look great at times. A few dropped balls is pretty likely 2 games back from a long injury. Think how the whole NRL looked for the first 2 rounds.

The area he needs to work on is defence. Some of his efforts were soft. He also came running out of the line.

In attack I though both Monas and Orford looked ok in the 2nd half together. I honestly do not think having bell and Lyon on the same side is working.

Mattai should have to work his way back into the side like players had to do in the 90's. Lyon will be selected for the blues so it will be his centre position for a week.

Ballin has to play as much time as we possibly can get out of him. His impact was substantial and he has been rewarded accordingly. We are really on a winner with him.

Any news on Burns for 2008 yet?

Ballin must have been injured he was out of tonight's game. Hopefully he will be back for the game against his old club Brisbane. Mattai has been out for 8 weeks and first game back he gets put on report. He could out again if the panel rule he has a case to answer. At the ground it didn't look like much.

He was right about team changes but Ballin was not dropped, he was either rested or is carrying a small injury. Ballin did not play in any game. I reckon he is possibly being rested to be ready for the premiers Brisbane. It was only announced 10 minutes before game time that Ballin was out. Des did this last brooky game with last minute changes. It would upset the opposition's game plan if they were going to target certain players.

Very dissapointed to see that Ballin was "rested" if was not injured. He has been in outstanding form so far this year and it was a massive gamble by Des to drop him if not injured for Matai.

I am shattered! WE lose another great player.
He will be missed like BK but we will survive,we always do.
