Beijing 2008 Top 50 Women (http://www.webtvhub.com/the-50-most-beautiful-women-of-the-2008-beijing-olympics-sexy-athletic-girls-pictures-and-videos/)

Fantastic idea and webpages.

Heaps missing from there, especially Aussies, and a few that are wildly out of place.
But love it.

Lol That's Pretty Funny (Yanks NBC's medal tally page) (http://www.nbcolympics.com/medals/index.html) - But the REAL medal tally takes into account such results Per Capita, as is Shown Here (Beijing Medal Tally - Total Medals Per Capita page) (http://www.symworld.com/medals/index.php?sort=total) considering the population base from which to develop our elite athletes.

And here is a funny Response by the Poms (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=620419) to beating Australia in the "Total Gold Medals" Beijing Medal Tally as well - look at it per capita buddies!

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

Re: London Olympics 2012 Opening & Closing Ceremonies:

Yea, this needs to be in them (The Goodies):

YouTube - The Goodies Theme 1

And this (The Young Ones):

YouTube - the young ones

And you can't go wrong with Benny Hill:

YouTube - The Benny Hill show outro Thames TV 80s

The ol' Dad's Army Theme would be brilliant somewhere during the opening:

YouTube - dads army tv theme with words

But the very first act after the lights go down in the main arena to start the opening ceremony, has to be this:

YouTube - MONTY PYTHON ... sit on my face

Re: Beijing Opening Ceremony:

I had to drive during the evening through most of it, so listened to abc am radio call of it.

But I recorded it and only last night watched (the bulk of) it..

One word: OUTSTANDING.

The radio call, whilst ok, could hardly do justice to the spectacle that was that event. So glad I recorded it and watched the TV broadcast. Very, very impressive!

Except for Channel 7's bloody advertising through much of it of course.

There has been much public discussion for and against funding for elite athletes, Olympic campaigns, Olympic ceremonies & fireworks in them etc.

The Olympic Games is THE BEST truly global event in the world.
The core values it represents such as friendship, peace & sportsmanship alone warrant the resources used to make it the huge production it is.

Arguments such as "oh, most of the olympic games budget should be spent on healthcare & education instead" are such ridiculous modern-day-economist/political views - people who truly believe that should take a step back, see the big picture, and if they simply must ride the economist horse then they should looks at Defence budgets and other more appropriate sources from which to reallocate funds.

That opening ceremony was fantastic.
An excellent application of so many facets in a wonderful way - including art, dance, culture, history, technology, pyrotechnics, choreography, acrobatics & multimedia experience.
I have never seen anything quite like it.

An absolute pinnacle of human achievement - we should all count ourselves glad & lucky to be living in this era where we can make such events into what they are.

Bring on the next, and the next, and the next Olympic games and let's see more!

Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony Fireworks Faked.

"According to recent reports, some of the fireworks seen during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics were computer generated. Since Beijing Olympic Broadcasting is the only network allowed to film the Olympics, foreign services were forced to accept the doctored footage. The scene of the 29 footsteps above the Bird's Nest was the section that was faked, according to The Beijing Times. Computer graphics artists spent a whole year creating the 55 second clip. In order to make it look realistic, they added a slight smog to the entire scene and forced the move shakily, as if it were being filmed from a helicopter.

The Chinese claim that they were forced to generate the fireworks due to the danger the helicopter would face if it were filming the scene. Most viewers were unaware of the fake fireworks due to NBC announcers refusal to state outright the truth. The following is a transcript of the NBC announcers during the faked segment of footage.

Matt Lauer: "You're looking at a cinematic device employed by Zhang Yimou here. This is actually almost animation. A footstep a second, 29 in all, to signify the 29 Olympiads."

Bob Costas: "We said earlier that aspects of this Opening Ceremony are almost like cinema in real time. Well this is quite literally cinematic."

They hint at the fireworks not being real, but they never come out and say it. When Matt Lauer says "This is actually almost animation," they come close to mentioning the CGI fireworks, but they just ignore the point after this and continue with their commentary. This is quite upsetting, especially with other allegations floating around that NBC moved the US entrance last so that they would get more viewers earlier in the show. These scandals have marred the most spectacular opening ceremonies to date, and will cast a shadow over the rest of the Games."

Hmmmmmm !

I think everything should have been real and not use "Some Fake fireworks" just to say we had the best fireworks,

The little girl miming the words "Looked too Fake and not REAL" it is said that they mimed the Sydney Olimpics as well !
