We watched a DVD last night which is recommended viewing for all Eagle Rockers. It is called "Perfect Catch" and stars Drew Barrymore.

Whilst the movie is based around the The Boston Red Sox Baseball team the movie shows the love and passion that people have for their sporting team. It is a love story and Jan I thoroughly enjoyed it. See if you can pick yourself as one of the fans in the movie. I think most of us will be able to identify with one of the characters.

It is well worth the $5.00 rental price.

Hello Groggo,
Please make a sub Forum called "Rockers movie Critics" and start it with this one and move any other Movie threads into it.

Maybe you should make Pete and Jan the moderators as I allways value the view on movies.

I allways look forward to views of other Rockers about movies they have seen. I some time decide to watch a movie recomended on the Rockers site.

Thank you,

thats tops

Ettalong, thats where my soccer club was when we lived up there. They played at that oval backing onto black mountain. We lived there for a short time while waiting for our house to be built at Umina. I preferred Ocean beach because it had surf. Believe it or not I couldn't swim then. I learned at my beloved Queenscliff beach when I was about 13 or 14 by swimming in the king tide flood that went across the beach to the lagoon. Sorry of subject but Ettalong brought back the memories. If we had not have moved from up there I may ended as a Socceroo if I continued playing soccer. Soccer was my sport then. My father played for the senior mens team at Ettalong.

You probably wouldn't recognise it now Geoff. It is changing by the week.
The Paradiso cinema is a roman style cinema. It is attached to the big market
place with restaurants, indian, japanese, chinese, italian so you can have dinner
in a very lay back atmosphere & then walk into the movies. They are beautiful
inside! The motel is also part of the complex. The quiet beach is accross th
road.We take our dog there all the time.Hardly anyone goes there so it's
great. The Palm Beach ferry comes in there also. Up the other end of
Ettalong is the huge new apartments complex called the 'Outrigger'
it stands out like a huge mirage.Underneath is the Ettalong bEach memorial
club.it is lovely. They have been trying to get this fast ferry up & running
for years to Sydney. That will happen eventually,& watch Ettalong boom
then!!
You should get the bus from the mall one day out to palm Beach & go for
a ride on the ferry accross to Ettalong.Bring back memories for you lol!
We could meet you. My mum comes up that way now, better than the train.
for her.

The missus and I went and saw "Perfect Catch" a while back when it was on at the cinemas.
During the movie she was continually nudging me, laughing her head off, pointing at Jimmy Fallon's character (as he went thru the highs and lows of supporting his team) and saying "that is soooooo you its scary!"
If you liked this movie, it is actually based on an English movie from a few years back called "Fever Pitch". Colin Firth has the main role where he is a mad Arsenal supporter - there's an hilarious part where him and his girlfriend are looking for a home together .. his solution: an apartment right outside Arsenal's home ground! Also definitely worth a look. The critics I think actually rated this higher than the American version.

Just an update - for those with Fox, "Fever Pitch" is currently having a run on UKTV. Saw it yesterday arvo. As with everything on Fox, I'm sure it'll be repeated a few more times this month.

Watched Walk The Line last night on DVD, it's a must see movie for Johnny Cash fans and a must see movie for fans of good movies.

Traces the early years of Johnny Cash and delves into his demons and why he has them, I discovered things I didn't even know about him.

Very well made movie, not one for action but musically and dramatical a very good one, Joachin Phoenix as Cash is a very fine performance and the likeness at times is eerie.

Reece Witherspoon as June Carter Cash is also a fantastic performance and if anything I think she made the show what it is, the power a woman has over a man is once again shown in the movie.

Only at the end did I notice the miming of the songs and after 2 1/2 hours roughly I never looked at the clock to see how much time was left, even if it was close to midnight when it ended, an indication of how engrossing a movie it was.

Rating---- 9/10

When you say miming of the songs I assume you mean miming to the soundtrack of the movie as Joachin Phoenix and Reece Witherspoon did all the singing in the movie not Johnny Cash or June Carter Cash.

I will have to see it as I have not heard one negative comment about Walk The Line.
