Here we go again, rumours are starting for 2011.

Is there any truth in the rumour Manly are chasing Yileen GORDON who apparently does not have a club as yet for 2011??

No, first I've heard about that one. How many reserve grade forwards does the club think we need? We had the right formula a few years back when we slowly built towards a championship squad by adding Orford, Bell, Ben Kennedy, Josh Perry, etc. Has there been a policy switch to recruit only lower graders and coach them to first grade standard? It may work with some players who have the motivation eg. Glenn Hall but some players are never going to be regular first graders. We've lost so many class players and should be rebuilding not just using reserve graders and hoping for the best.

Yileen GORDON was a starter at Souths (I realise that isn't saying much) ." How many reserve forwards does the club need"? Hello, we don't have any one. Guys like GALUVAO are going to be starters next year. If you think we have plenty of depth in the fowards your kidding, We are struggling in the forward department . Brent KITE is on his last legs.

What I meant was why sign reserve grade standard forwards when we have up and comers Darcy Lussick, Vic Mauro and co. in our Sunshine Coast side which is our reserve grade side up until this year. Based on the Sunshine Coast side we have more depth in the forwards than the backs. I'm not counting Toyota cup in that equation because most of those guys are too young to make the jump straight to first grade. There have been a few exceptions being Foran who was a class above anybody else in Toyota cup and Oldfield who is not not only a big boy and fast but has plenty of confidence and it didn't phase him one bit making the jump up.

I stand by the statement why sign reserve grade forwards when we have an outstanding running forward in Darcy Lussick and others coming through.

It remains to be seen if we have a full reserve grade side based in N.S.W. next year. Discussions are still taking place apparently.

gordon is a hack i think we have stopped losing more players rather than signing new players

think of the ones we have retained or at least i think they are

thats the core of your side all ya need to do is bring in the younger players and hone there skills

i was at a loss at first about very little recruitment but when you do retain the above list of players

there really isnt much left over they were all chased by other clubs too

so we would of paid a few overs to keep them at manly

the players coming in as well have been progressing nicely thru the foreign legion (qld cup)

and will make or break in 2011

its not always about getting new players its also about retaining the ones you already have

thats my view on the subject
