The World's Fastest Indian
After a lifetime of perfecting his classic Indian motorcycle, Burt Munro (Anthony Hopkins) set off from Invercargill to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah where he set a new speed record. His 1967 world record remains unbroken.
After seeing this movie I knew I enjoyed it but wasn't sure if it was a great movie. It's a simple story told very well without any gimmicks as it doesn't need any. The acting is very good and of course Anthony Hopkins is perfect in the part of Burt Munro. There are a few contrived situations in the movie to spice it up but thats ok, even though the movie would be just as good without them.
My verdict on The World's Fastest Indian: The more I find out about the story behind the movie the more I appreciate the movie.
I'm still thinking about this movie days after seeing it.
To me thats what a good movies about.
Go see it, it's a charming movie about an average Kiwi bloke that did somthing exceptional.
Find out about Burt Munro before you see the movie and you will appreciate the movie even more.

The real Burt Munro
Burt Munro quote from a popular New Zealand Motorcycle magazine. "At the Salt in 1967 we were going like a bomb. Then she got the wobbles just over half way through the run. To slow her down I sat up. The wind tore my goggles off and the blast forced my eyeballs back into my head - couldn't see a thing. We were so far off the black line that we missed a steel marker stake by inches. I put her down - a few scratches all round but nothing much else". At the time Burt was traveling at close to 206 mph (331 km/h).
